How it all started...
On August 11, 1958, a small group of Christians met in the Irvington community house to pray and Seek the will of God regarding the creation of a Baptist Mission in the area.
Sponsorship for the mission was assumed by the Mobile Baptist Association until Dauphin Way Baptist Church took on this role in August of 1959. After Dauphin Way Baptist Church authorized money for expenditures for the land and a building , the first services were held inside for the first time on March 5, 1961.
On February 25, 1973, the Mission voted to be organized into First Baptist Church, Irvington. An educational building was buit and dedicated on October 3, 1976, and a new sanctuary constructed and dedicated in 1984.
